A Charm and the Sea

A Charm and the Sea is an RPGMaker game I thought of around 2022, and the main premise for it is to control Charm and Cowrie on their quest to find the former's mother in a Scandinavian seaside village. I was inspired by the story of "Song of the Sea", which is evidently one of my favorite movies! The game would tackle realistic topics such as grief and loss, while also having a solemn tone that gets stronger as time passes on. The game has an overarching theme of how both naievety and trust go hand-in-hand, so that combined with the mystery of his mother's disappearance and grief of his father will make A Charm and the Sea an emotional story once I have the chance to start it. I'm aiming for a release in the next few years maybe.

The Cat of Death

Another idea I had for a manga during the summer of 2022. The story of this manga/web manga idea I've had takes place in Niigata prefecture, where a lethargic first year high school student named Nekota Izumi (猫田泉) gets dared to do a test of courage with his friends to celebrate the beginning of summer vacation. However, the test takes place in the woods behind the school, nicknamed "Shiyune's Woods" after one of their school mysteries, and whoever crosses her path is never seen again. While going alone due to the odd number, Izumi feels a cold chill and is caught in the middle of a blizzard, where he freezes and wakes up surrounded by snow; and now has the appearance of a catboy. He eventually meets Shiyune, who sent him to her realm in order to stop an unknown darkness from completely corrupting her pure-white world entirely. Along the way to where Shiyune thinks the "center" is, Izumi gets attacked by Hazure in her bone-wolf form, but because Shiyune gave him a portion of her power, he was able to purify Hazure. However he could not purify her fully, so she can barely speak and still retains her monsterous figure. Soon they meet Neru, a small human boy who lost his entire village to the Corrupted, and joins the two (three, if counting Shiyune's white cat she uses to patrol) as an ally. The story is your average journey manga, but with things that make me happy like Japanese culture, gothic settings, and contrasting themes. Originally, the premise was more of an action-adventure with Izumi being a lazy, but capable shinigami, but over time it turned into a more somber and gothic tale inspired by works like "Totsukuni no Shoujo".

Hana Danshi

Hana Danshi was a dating sim I made up for fun with a friend of mine back in early 2023. We really enjoyed characters themed after certain things (evidently so, since we met on Food Fantasy!) so we decided to combine our love for floral aesthetics and character designs to create a concept like this :] It was a simple visual novel, with short but sweet storylines that we could have fun making, but life caught up to us and unfortunately Hana Danshi is shelved until we are less busy ;-; I still enjoy the concept though, so in the meantime I've been coming up with even cuter designs and different characters to go along with the hanakotoba theme of the game. I feel like hanakotoba is especially underutilized, so instead of just theming the love interests over the flower's appearance, we also had fun playing with their personalities and traits in accordance to their meanings. Someday Hana Danshi will come into fruition, but for now we're finalizing our designs and stories!
