Hmmhmm, it appears I may be a big fan of shy characters, but I think Naoto is completely adorable! Because of my love for sweet but also macabre/historical themed characters, I really had fun creating him and his sister...I think they're a neat concept! Naoto originally used to be a silent and tall character I sketched back in early 2022, but he and Kaho eventually evolved into the cute vampire twins you see now. A bit of a fun fact about his name, but I actually named Naoto after the fake name I use online when signing up for services, so if AmariHBNK looks a bit familiar, it actually stands for "Amari: Hayashibara Naoto Kaho"! All in all he really is one of my favorite ocs, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of his and Kaho's story.

Born just minutes before Kaho, Naoto was born quite ill and was frequently bedridden when alive. He is very shy around others, both from isolation and taking after his mother. When he was well enough to walk or in-between homeschooling, he often played games outside with Kaho or with their family dog Mignon. Despite his sickly nature, Naoto is very sweet and spent even his last moments with his sister. During a harsh autumn, Naoto succumbed to pneumonia and passed away early one november morning, leaving Kaho distraught yet determined to bring her brother back. Eventually, he was resurrected and quietly left his mausoleum to embrace Kaho as a vampire. Despite terrifying his parents when he returned, Naoto was welcomed back with Kaho, although with an even sicklier palor from his undead nature. As a vampire, he rarely comes outside to play with Kaho anymore, but instead roams the Parisian streets with her if she can't sleep. Naoto can be found most days studying zoology in the Dubois Chateau's library, something he became interested in after his father gifted him an encyclopedia set before leaving for a business trip. Also when in good spirits, he and Kaho playfully argue about their dislike of mice and insects, respectively. In fear of hurting his protective sister, Naoto keeps the secret of his death being more comfortable than his life from her.
Notes on vampirism: Along with Kaho he is neither a true vampire nor an adult, which also causes him not to feel the need to feed on human blood. Unlike his sister he is weaker to the sun, but has the same temperament at night. Naoto's wounds also heal quickly but to support this ability he must drink blood (though not necessarily human blood). It seems Naoto recieved half of the side effects of vampirism, while Kaho recieved the other half.
