I like to imagine Kaho got her name because her parents knew how bright and sunny she would be, I guess they saw the future! Kaho and her brother were originally a part of a concept called "The Time of Year 4, Class 4"...actually a lot of my characters came from there (Izumi, Neru, and Hazure come to mind). She was originally a thin, owl-like girl with a lovesick personality, but I eventually redesigned both her and Naoto. Her original redesign actually kept the owl-like/squirrel-like ears she used to have, but I eventually got rid of them in favor of her more human look. Being a fan of cuter anime characters, I think her name actually comes from Kaho Nikaido (Hatsukoi Monster), or maybe Kaho Mizuki (Cardcaptor Sakura).

Being the younger and healthier twin sister of Naoto, Kaho always felt that she needed to protect her older brother. Even when they were young children, she was always pulling Naoto around on her adventures, sharing her energy with her father (in his youth). That fateful morning, Naoto passed on with Kaho by his side, causing her to break completely and become adamant about bringing her brother back. During an outing with her parents weeks later, she noticed a wanted poster for an old vampire who was apparently immortal and soon after, snuck out one evening in her mourning dress and searched for the vampire. In exchange for letting Naoto live instead of him, Kaho and her brother would become vampires themselves to make up for their small size. When Kaho returned to the manor the next morning, her parents were upset, but overjoyed when they saw Naoto behind her. As a vampire, Kaho still enjoys playing with her pets and having tea with her family, but her vampirism causes her to feel restless at night. She wanders Paris in its place. Kaho is skilled at piano, but is very sensitive to loud noises which provokes her to only play on an old fortepiano.
Notes on vampirism: As she is both a child and not a true vampire, the effects of her vampirism are weak compared to true-blooded ones. As such, she does not need to feed on humans and isn't susceptible to the sun's rays. However, she becomes more erratic (mischevious?) in the dead of night and often drinks her own blood from biting her mouth, both unintentionally from her fangs and intentionally from her hunger. It seems from the old man she recieved half of the side effects, with the other half going to Naoto.
